Instagram management inside Minifarm

Minifarm is an end-to-end marketing suite for product brands. Once a business connects its Instagram professional account (via Facebook Login for Business), Minifarm becomes the single surface where the team plans campaigns, drafts posts, generates the creatives, schedules them, and handles community management — DMs, comments, and analytics — without leaving the app.

What users can do with their Instagram account in Minifarm

1. Unified Instagram DM inbox

The connected business reads its Instagram Direct messages and replies — manually or via automation — from a single inbox at /instagram/:connectionId. Outbound messages respect Meta's 24-hour standard messaging window and permitted message tags.

2. Comment automation & moderation

The business configures keyword rules at /instagram/:connectionId/automations that automatically reply to or hide inbound comments on its own posts, and can trigger a private-reply DM through the Messenger Platform. Each rule has an enabled toggle and a visible execution log so the owner stays in control.

3. Scheduled publishing

On /instagram/:connectionId/publish, the business composes and publishes — or schedules — content they created inside Minifarm: IMAGE, VIDEO, REELS, STORIES, or CAROUSEL. Nothing is ever pushed to Instagram without an explicit Publish or Schedule action.

4. Analytics & insights

Account- and post-level Instagram insights, plus aggregated Page-level Facebook insights for the linked Page, render read-only on /instagram/:connectionId: followers, reach (28d), profile visits (28d), accounts engaged (28d), total interactions (28d), per-post likes / comments / reach / views / engagement / saves / shares, and Page impressions / post engagements / Page fans.

5. Public-content inspiration (research only)

At /explore, the connected business researches public Instagram content as creative reference for its own posts: pasting a public post URL, browsing a public @username, or querying #hashtag top and recent media. Each discovered post becomes a private internal "recipe" only the discovering business can see and adapt — Minifarm never republishes, rehosts, or redistributes the discovered content.

Permissions Minifarm requests, and exactly why

Each permission below maps 1:1 to a feature above. We never request a scope we do not actively use in the product.

instagram_basic

Identifies the Instagram professional account the user just connected and displays its feed inside their Minifarm workspace.

The user sees this on the account workspace at /instagram/:connectionId — the page header renders the account's profile picture and @username, and the Posts feed renders its recent media. Without this permission, the user cannot tell which of their connected accounts they are operating on.

instagram_content_publish

Lets the connected business publish content they created inside Minifarm directly to their Instagram account.

The user composes a post on /instagram/:connectionId/publish, choosing between IMAGE, VIDEO, REELS, STORIES, or CAROUSEL, writes a caption, and clicks Publish or Schedule. Only media the user explicitly submits through this screen is ever sent to Instagram.

instagram_manage_comments

Powers the Comment Automation feature — the connected business configures keyword rules that automatically reply to or hide inbound comments.

Rules are created and edited on /instagram/:connectionId/automations, and executions are visible in the execution log on the same screen. The business owner retains full control through the rule's enabled toggle.

instagram_manage_messages

Surfaces inbound Instagram Direct messages for the connected account and lets the business send manual or automated replies.

The inbox and conversation drawer live on /instagram/:connectionId; automated DMs are triggered by matching Comment Automation rules configured on /instagram/:connectionId/automations. All outbound messages respect Meta's 24-hour standard messaging window and permitted message tags.

instagram_manage_insights

Shows the connected business how their Instagram professional account is performing.

The Account performance card on /instagram/:connectionId renders followers, reach (28d), profile link taps (28d), accounts engaged (28d), and total interactions (28d). The Posts feed on the same page renders per-post insights (likes, comments, reach, views, engagement, saves, shares). Read-only — we never write to the account through it.

pages_show_list

Lists the Facebook Pages the user administers during the connect flow, so they can pick the Page that is linked to the Instagram professional account they want to bring into Minifarm.

The Page picker appears mid-OAuth inside the connect flow on /instagram, and the resolved Page name is then displayed in the account workspace header on /instagram/:connectionId ("Linked to {Page name} (Page)") and in the Linked business accounts card. We immediately discard every Page ID except the one the user selects.

pages_read_engagement

Confirms that the Facebook Page the user selected is actually linked to the target Instagram professional account, which is required by the Instagram Graph API before any call to the Instagram user ID will succeed.

This check runs during OAuth completion on /instagram and again when the user reconnects an expired account. The Page's name and ID are surfaced in the header on /instagram/:connectionId and in the Linked business accounts card. We never read Page posts, Page comments, or Page engagement metrics through this permission.

pages_messaging

Delivers Instagram DMs through the Messenger Platform conversation API for the connected Page — the supported path for Comment Automation's private-reply step, for setting ice-breakers and persistent menu, and for manual replies surfaced in the conversation drawer on /instagram/:connectionId.

Every message is sent only to users who have already engaged with the business account and respects the 24-hour messaging window.

For Meta App Reviewers

Minifarm is live and operates on a private-beta access model — new accounts are admitted from the waitlist. A pre-provisioned test account is available for review:

  • What to test: connect a sandbox Instagram professional account, then visit /instagram/:connectionId for inbox + insights, /instagram/:connectionId/automations for comment rules, and /instagram/:connectionId/publish for scheduled publishing.

Data, deletion & revocation

  • What we store: account metadata, posts and their insights, DM conversations, comment-automation rules and their execution logs.
  • How a user revokes access: Minifarm's own Disconnect button on the account workspace (revokes the token and schedules deletion within 30 days, with an immediate-purge button afterward) or Instagram's Apps and Websites settings — our app listens for the permissions webhook and triggers the same deletion path automatically.
